What is the LUHFT Data Leak?

LUHFT emailed staff on or around the 9 February explaining that there had been an “unintentional sharing of staff personal information”. The email also explained that “A file was sent by email to a number of managers within LUHFT to support the ongoing management of payroll details as part of the industrial action arrangements”. The spreadsheet file included a hidden tab that contained the personal information of around 14,000 staff members. Personal information shared included names, addresses, national insurance numbers, salary information, and more.

If you received this email, it is likely that you were affected by the data leak and could be eligible to claim compensation. You may also have received a letter explaining that your data was shared in the leaked file.

Which personal details were compromised?

The exposure of individuals’ personal data may pose various risks and is a gross invasion of privacy. It is understood that the leaked spreadsheet file included a hidden tab which contained staff personal information.

The information in this hidden tab includes:

  • Names
  • Addresses
  • DOBs
  • NI Numbers
  • Gender
  • Ethnicity
  • Salary

To join our claim, the main piece of information you will need is a notification email from LUHFT, which was sent on or around February 9 2023.

The email stated that there had been an “unintentional sharing of staff personal information”. It also explain that “A file was sent by email to a number of managers within LUHFT to support the ongoing management of payroll details as part of the industrial action arrangements. The spreadsheet file included a hidden tab which contained staff personal information. Whilst it was not visible to those receiving the email, it should not have been included in this spreadsheet. The information in this hidden tab included names, addresses, DOBs, NI numbers, gender, ethnicity, salary, it did not include bank account details”.

It is important that you have retained this email to be able to claim, so please check your junk and spam folders, too.

Aside from the notification email, all you will need to provide is your name, email address, and phone number.

No. You will not have to pay anything if we don’t win the claim, provided that you keep to the terms of our sign-up documents. This is what we mean by No-Win, No-Fee.

Your claim will be brought to court under the Data Protection Act 2018, which incorporates the GDPR. We believe that LUHFT have breached your privacy, which will be the focus of our argument.
